Hey, just a note: I'm joining Nick Longo, Kris Dale, and Derryl Rivers tomorrow night, 6/3 at Sambuca (www.sambucarestaurant.com). Nick's only doing about once a month there over the summer, so come join us! (And, ahem, yes, I'm still working on the CD!)
Great news! The title cut for the new disc is nearly done! Yes, I started this project over a year ago. Hey, you can't rush perfection! Well, okay, you can't rush near-perfection. Semi-perfection? Look, I'm not so comfortable "tooting my own horn" (figuratively speaking)...but I think you're gonna like this!
Well, if you weren't there, you missed some really cool stuff! Our friends Rev. Paul and Kathy Cowley (of the Dunwoody Cowleys ;-)) were kind enough to invite us to the Victor Wooten/J.D. Blair show at the Variety Playhouse last Friday. This show was part of their aptly named "2 Minds, 1 Groove" tour.
No, I don't own stock in this place! Actually, I was just enjoying a lovely 10th anniversary dinner with the lovely Ms. Reed at Lawrence's Cafe the other evening; so I just wanted to take a minute to introduce the place to folks that might be unfamiliar, and to remind folks who are already in the know.
Well, I was right! I did forget to thank one (at least!) of our friends for coming out to Wild Wing Cafe, Alpharetta last time. In my defense, since he was hanging out next to stage left, my feeble brain failed to record him as being "out there." All I can say is "DOH!"—and perhaps I can rectify my omission by introducing you to this character. He is the busiest man in Smooth Latin Jazz, and his site is one of the most visited in its genre. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome...
Mark Nettles would more appropriately be described as "artistic." Or maybe just "crazy." Or both. One thing that we know is that he likes to take pictures and shoot video. Thankfully, he brought this mania to bear this past Wednesday evening at
Hey, I didn't know what we would be getting into; but...
Whew...! As you can see, after a brief period of much cursing, sweating and learning, the site is back up.
You may also notice a slightly different look--part purposeful, part largely accidental. We've upgraded to Drupal 6.0 (http://www.drupal.org), and still have some stylistic elements to update and/or bring back, as well as the Guestbook and Photo/Video Galleries, which are...well...somewhere. We just can't get to them at the moment! Thanks for your patience...
Also, on the plus side, we now have (for the first time since the ATL Jazz Fest) t-shirts available online! Now is a great time to support the arts and help promote the upcoming CD, so please check 'em out. Not only do they feature Mark Kirby's cool design, but you can customize your own by choosing the color, size, and even the type and style of shirt!
Thanks, and see you soon...

We have *many* new dates added, so be sure to check the "Shows" page regularly. See you soon! -B
Finally! We just uploaded the video clip of "Here I Am" (Lyle Lovett tune), as performed with Francine Reed on 2009.01.09. Click the icon to play.
